118 surveys done!

On July 27, 2022, Dr. Julia Frank and Michael Schmidt, both scientific employees at the Institute for Water and Energy Management at the Hof University of Applied Sciences, went to Nuremberg to carry out further surveys on wastewater reuse in agriculture at the Biofach trade fair. Against the background of increasing dry periods, the reuse of treated wastewater, the quality of which is adapted to the intended use, is becoming increasingly important. The survey aims to find out the factors that are crucial for the acceptance of this water reuse. Only a few farmers could be addressed directly at the fair. Normally, the fair is highly frequented by people working in agriculture. However, many had canceled their participation at short notice because the harvest had to be brought in much earlier due to the prolonged dry period. This was also noticeable at the Biofach. Nevertheless, very important contacts were made, including with the Demeter Association and the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL). And despite a lower participation of farmers at the fair, which further underlines the importance of water reuse in agriculture, a total of 118 surveys have now been carried out with prior contact with agricultural associations and the surveys at Biofach.
